About
Everything I photograph is about to disappear.
A plate lives for a few minutes once it leaves the pass. A home is staged and perfect for a few days before the listing goes live. An athlete peaks for one night after months of prep, and a crowd like that never comes together the same way twice. Most of what people pour years into gets seen for a moment, if it gets seen at all. My job is to catch that moment and make it outlast the thing itself.
I know what invisible work feels like. I moved to South Florida alone at 21 with a camera, no name and nobody waiting on me. Everything since has been built by hand: every skill taught to myself late at night, every client earned one shoot at a time, every mistake turned into a better system. Most of those years, nobody saw. That's why I take the moment someone finally gets seen so seriously.
It's also made me calm where other people get tense. Light changes, plans fall apart, the room fills up faster than anyone expected. I plan everything, then let the plan go the second the real moment shows up, because that's the only part anyone will remember. I don't need perfect conditions. I need to be paying attention.
Some of that comes from where I'm from. I grew up between the Bronx and Paraguay, two languages and two ways of carrying yourself in a room, and I learned early how to put people at ease. That's half the work. A camera makes people guarded, and trust is what lets them be themselves in front of it. It's also why the people I work with keep calling me back.
My sister printed her own photos in a darkroom, and I've been chasing that kind of care ever since. I get better at this every year, on purpose, and I'm not done. If you're building something you're proud of, I want to be the one who makes sure it's seen.
